What comes to your mind when you think about Special Education to children ?
Special education is an additional tailor-made program given to children to suit his/her needs. It is an opportunity given to the children to be at par with other children of the same age group.
It was quite interestingly illustrated in the movie “Taare Zameen Par“, where the 8 year old boy Ishaan, is a normal child who has difficulty in reading and understanding written words i.e. he is shown to be dyslexic. And how with the guidance and help of a teacher, he is able to overcome his difficulty.
So, well this example was quoted to explain that a learning disability (under special education) can be overcome with a very able guidance and the child does not have to be secluded or denied anything.
He is a normal child like you and me and ‘Special’ here is the education as always as all children are special.
